Default Considering this card ...

Currently I have an AMD Athlon Processor running at 1Ghz exactly. I also have 320 MB SD-RAM. I'm planning on getting this card: http://www.yoyotech.co.uk/scripts/pr...idproduct=1456

Mainly because it's cheap. I just want to know if it would be possible to run Guild Wars with this computer. I don't want to buy the game and find out it doesn't work. (I'm aware my PC isn't the best ever etc but I've heard Guild Wars doesn't require it to be in order to work)

If it would run can anyone recommend the settings I'd have to have it on in order to run? I'm guessing I'd have to have it on minimum.

I know this is asking alot - but it is all appreciated.

You should be able to run medium to high quality mode. Your biggest problem will be with RAM, 512 mb is optimal for gw. It's not a crappy card, but alot of it depends on your motherboard and which slot you're going to utilize. The card you posted is a agp8x card, but judging buy the 1Ghz processor you might not even have an 8x slot on the board. If you do you should be fine running at medium to high, if not then you need to be looking at either agp 4x or pci (not "e") cards. The latter being the worst possible option. Just a heads up.

Yes you're correct - My motherboard only supports up to AGP 4x.

Will this card do the trick?: http://www.yoyotech.co.uk/scripts/pr...idproduct=2757

Says AGP 4x under "Features" so I assume it should work, just not sure if it will run Guild Wars.

As for RAM I will look into buying a 256MB chip.

Thanks for the help so far.

Well they both support 4x, but the 9550 is a better card (far from top of the line) and obviously more money. Basically a 4x agp slot is going to limit your frame rate, but it should run just fine for GW.

Oh okay so I can use the first card (even though I'll probably get the second since the specs look better) ?

LOL, depends on how strapped for cash you are i suppose. Might be better off throwing the difference in price at some RAM instead, that's where you're going to see an overall system speed improvement, not just gw. You're limited by your bus speeds and I'm sure your hard drive speeds as well. I'd throw a 512 Mb chip in, they've been pretty cheap lately. G'luck!

Yes I suppose spending the difference on RAM makes more sense. I'll go about it that way. I'll just remember to keep the receipt!

Thanks again for the help. Much appreciated.
